September 10 - Northern California
Garberville, CA highlights - redwood trees, lots of outdoor pool time and bike rides, Avenue of the Giants drive, 80s mostly during day. Lovely stay at a KOA.
We arrived September 9 in Sacramento to see Danielle, Jenn’s friend from high school. It’s always fun trying to exit right off of a freeway with 30 cars protesting something and waving foreign flags entering the freeway. But Ken managed well. Then our campground email directions, which they said to use and not Google, were awful and we ended up on 2 narrow bridges, little city streets and the navigational lady who wanted us to make a VERY sharp right. That wasn’t happening. I told Ken if I were driving I’d stop in the middle of the road and abandon the massive rig. But Ken was OK and kept driving.
Today we did a lovely 16 mile plus bike ride on the American River Trail with Danielle our tour guide and it was breezy, a bit shaded, and lovely! Saw turkeys, squirrels, and lots of cyclists and runners. Then we enjoyed great live music and food at the Crawfish and Catfish festival. Rose met a new friend, learned some break dancing moves, and danced her heart out. She also was happily surprised at all of the radio stations that her radio could pick up since we’ve stayed places with zero to one station!
We are in this area until Friday.
Thank you for the prayers for safety and health.
