Well, we have officially been on the road for 2 months now. Rose is doing great at “road school” but misses her school
and friends. Ken is doing awesome at driving and fixing things that need fixed, and seems to be settling into a good Tuesday through Thursday phone schedule with patients, and I am still figuring out how we can tow a washer/dryer combo.

This week we spent 3 days at the Disneyland parks, one day at Huntington Beach and one day in the Hollywood area. Rose loved Disneyland of course and the Incredicoaster which used to be California Screamin’. One day she rode it six times. She also enjoyed the Star Wars Resistance attraction. The parade was more exciting than the ones we attend in Alaska and Rose wanted to watch it 3 times. However, she didn’t like the thousands of people and mentioned that she prefers Alaska where it’s not so busy. We walked a LOT and started each day on foot from our campground that was less than a mile to the entrance gates. 

Looking at the beach photos you may think it was a quiet day on the beach but it was actually VERY loud and exciting as we got a preview of the upcoming air show. F-22s and the Thunderbirds were giving us a very cool show right over the ocean as Rose was digging a big hole in search of water.

The only stars we saw at Hollywood were the ones below our feet and the ones at Madame Tussauds. Ken and Rose really enjoyed posing as well. Ken claims that several people confused him with Brad Pitt. 

The weather started out in the 80s but dropped to 60s/70s at the end of the week. The locals were cold. We were comfortable. 

We are now headed back to Paso Robles. When we left that area last weekend I was hoping to return so that we could spend more time with my godparents but I wanted to make sure that Ken was willing to drive through the Los Angeles area again and he was. Thankfully today the traffic wasn’t too heavy through that city. Temps this week will start in the 70s and are predicted to be in the 90s by the end of the week. (Hot!)

      You should be able to select on Name URL and simply type your name.
      Too bad we don’t have rollercoasters in Alaska, our girls could enjoy those together!

Sooo nice to meet up for dinner and visit with the Long family - Toby, Caleb, Erica, Ken, Jenn, Titus, Rose Ken returning from another Home Depot run. There’s always something to fix on our tin can as  my friend Jill called it.  In Buc’ees parking lot in Springfield, Missouri. Rose realized after visiting these a few times that Buc’ee is a beaver, not a squirrel. Which makes her happy because a squirrel ate her chips in Crater Lake. We are in Branson, very close to the strip. Campground pool. It gets pretty busy in the afternoons when it’s in the 90s. Before leaving Sandusky, Ohio, we did attend church services at New Life Church. The pastor knew someone from Alaska Missions in Soldotna who we know and he had been to our community on a missions trip. Small world.  Now we are in Branson where it is Hot! Hot! Hot! July 28 - Final Day of the Big Trip

Rose and Jenn were fortunate to be able to enjoy the Liard Hot Sprimgs  very close to the campground where Ken installed the repaired axle. Alaskan beauty. And more! It was so great to see  the Alaska sign. Can you tell these passengers are very excited? Many gas pumps in the Yukon Territory  look like this. And you have to go inside and leave your credit card for the pump to be turned on. And they aren’t 24/7. And sometimes you have to wait in line. And sometimes they have no gas or their pumps just aren’t working. Gas can be as much as $6.50/gallon in Yukon. Joy. Joy. And more Joy. We saw a lot of bison. They are big! And several bears just roaming.  Almost home! We are home and in our driveway! Top: July 28, 2024 arriving home  Bottom: August 1, 2023 leaving home  The truck and camper made it too!
