Dinner after solar eclipse at Le Camper

We had great seats, great friends, no crowds, and
no clouds for the solar eclipse on April 8th.

Bag craft at campground on solar eclipse day.

Mike and Levi doing the t-shirt craft.

Perfect reclining chairs for the eclipse.
Thanks DeWayne for these chairs!

It was a hot day hence the umbrella.
This is Ken.

Tracy and Jenn making sure our glasses work.

All of us getting ready.

Rose leaned back and fell.
She wasn’t hurt.

Pictures don’t do it justice.

It was amazing.

It became darker pretty quickly.

Then 4 minutes later on scooters.

Wayne, Melia, Jenn and Ken
We met them on our Alaskan cruise and spent
the evening in Victoria with them. We met
again for dinner at the Garage Door Food Hall.

Rose found a four leaf clover.

Rose enjoying the miniature houses at the
Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
We spent over 5 hours here. It was great.

Play kitchen at the museum.
Rose was the manager and ordered all
the kids around. They didn’t seem to mind.

We got some rain. Thankfully the nearby
creek did not overflow.

Rose and Jenn
(Ken’s nephew and fiancé)
We met them in Zionsville for Mexican.

Not the snow that recently fell
in Alaska, but flowers that fell
from nearby tree in Indiana.

Rural South Carolina.
In order in avoid scratching the
camper, Ken moved the tree off of the
road. This was within a 1/2 mile of
the campground.

Current map.
Rose was upset that South Carolina wasn’t
north of Indiana. She is ready to head
back to Alaska and feels that we are going
backwards.

WOW! That pretty much sums up this past week.

First, the solar eclipse on Monday. Indianapolis was in the path of totality so we headed there to meet up with our friends Tracy, Mike and Levi again. Thanks Mike for doing all the research! It was a great day and the warmest (75) and sunniest day of the week. Pictures didn’t capture the beauty that we saw through our goggles.

Second, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum that boasts as the largest in the world. It did not disappoint. Rose and I enjoyed exhibits and short films about turtles, Greece, sports, miniature houses, fashion, Ruby Bridges, Anne Frank, Ryan White and more.

Third, we met up with Wayne and Melia who we met on our Alaskan cruise last summer. Now it’s their turn to come back to Alaska.

Lastly, but not leastly, we had a lovely dinner with Oliver and Caroline in Zionsville. Oliver is Ken’s nephew. They are getting married in September and we are hoping to come back to celebrate this special day with them (not via our camper).

The drive to South Carolina was over 500 miles which is a long trek especially with wind gusts over 40 mph much of the way. I thought for sure we’d soon be blown off the road, but thanks to God’s protection and Ken’s solid driving skills, we arrived 10 hours later at our rural location. We were in 6 states that day - Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.

We are here for 7 nights outside of Travelers Rest. Temperatures are projected to be sunny and in the high 70s. Biking and running on the rural roads seems very doable with little traffic and no dogs.
