Day 27 - From lake to sea

Crater Lake Toketee Falls Watson Falls Clearwater Falls                                           Crater Lake            Crater Lake - see Rose’s blue croc? Look up Ken, Rose, Jenn at Crater Lake August 27th, day 27 Headed to Bandon, OR today from the Crater Lake area.  We were very blessed to have been able to spend 9 nights at Lemolo Lake/Crater Lake KOA campground. Nothing fancy, but it was great and very remote. Yet, just like other stores out in the middle of nowhere, its grocery prices were still cheaper than Alaska. Lol Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US, the water is a beautiful deep blue and it is so clean you can drink it (and we did). Highlights - Ken was gone 3 nights and had safe travels to and from Alaska, Rose and I were able to meet up with former neighbors Jeff and Cheryl in Eugene and had a nice visit with them, Trader Joe’s!, Royal India restaurant (I love Indian food), Rose and I did a handful of waterfall hikes, Rose cooked us a great breakfast, Bike rides,

Day 20 - Washington and Oregon and Alaska

Well it seems like a lot has happened in the past week.  This is long so if you want a summary, we are doing great! If you want to hear more … Well our 2 night stay at Tall Chief RV Park outside of Seattle was a real bust. Rose gave it a 0/10. Amazing pool but closed due to “electrical issues”, promising playground had caution tape around it due to hornet activity and just being sprayed, mini golf was free but only clubs no balls. On the plus side, which Rose didn’t appreciate, were the very spacious and shaded spots with endless blackberries (and no mosquitoes). Ken grabbed a ladder and took me out for dessert.  We visited the Museum of Flight in Seattle which was great! It was in the 90s and so we didn’t venture into the city more than that. I don’t do great when temps are above 70. Rose was surprised how much was there as we are only used to the Seattle airport.  Next was a KOA at Astoria/Warrenton. 9/10. Two functioning pools, hot tub, jump pad, movie nights, game room, and more. R

Day 13 - On the road again

Sunday, August 13th ** Note -. I am planning to do weekly updates so you will not see blog entries for every day. And the only reason I know what day it is, is because we left on the first of the month.** Today we are headed to Fall City, WA east of Seattle for 2 nights. Highlights from our week at KOA Burlington in northern WA: exploring the creek, finding crawdads, Rose seeing her first ever snake - a gartersnake - and wanting to catch one, bike rides, HEAT (high 70s), indoor pool and hot tub, Rose’s 10th birthday celebration at trampoline park in Bellingham, making a blackberry cobbler from berries we picked at campground, doing laundry in a laundromat (not a fun highlight), lettuce leaves blowing away in kitchen area with AC above prep area, Ken repairing things and improving things for the camper (an unending job), farms and cows everywhere (better than mosquitoes), Spark electricity museum (field trip for Rose), and meeting SO many nice people. Rose quickly made friends with two

Day 6 - USA

We arrived Sunday evening in Washington state. We will be in the Burlington and Seattle areas through Sunday or so. Crossing the border was fairly quick and easy. GPS took us on miles of back roads and farms to arrive at our campground that is minutes from Interstate 5. LOL Thankfully Ken is driving our almost 60 foot rig.  Rose is happy that this is the second campground with a pool. Me too!

Day 5 - Still in Canada

Image
Six bears and 6,000 mosquitoes later we are still driving through Canada. There’s not much around but trees and mosquitoes so Rose isn’t very impressed. She doesn’t think Ken’s truck will last our entire journey (“it’s going DOWN”) to which Ken agreed. What?! Moving ahead … one trailer tire was punctured by a rock and thankfully was noticed at a campground and quickly changed by Ken and spare speedily replaced in Whitehorse. “Trust the journey” - it’s going to be a great day. Thank you for the prayers.

Day 1 And we’re off

Planning to arrive in Glenallen today. 315 miles.  Rose started 4th grade today and did awesome!  Thank you for the prayers.  Jenn, Ken and Rose
