Less busy. We hiked around the sequoia trees at Mariposa Grove, had a lovely lunch at Wawona Lodge, and Ken had an orthopedic exam from a doctor he befriended on the hike (knee issue since the trampoline park on 8/11 when he was jumping like crazy). Then we headed to the valley floor and hopped on our kick scooters. We toured lower Yosemite Falls, the village area (with less people and lots of parking available), and around the Ahwahnee which is undergoing a large renovation.  I always loved Oakhurst so we enjoyed our

And although Ken says we are following good weather (aka not too hot) it was in the 90s in Sacramento. But it was so lovely to see Danielle from high school again. She hasn’t aged. We got together every evening except the day we went to San Francisco. We even tried a Zumba class together while Rose did a kids hip hop class. And I only saw one mosquito in that entire city! I had told Rose jokingly that there weren’t any because all of the people killed them (because there are so many people). We all did the Alcatraz cruise and audio tour. Rose seemed very interes

September 10 - Northern California

Garberville, CA highlights - redwood trees, lots of outdoor pool time and bike rides, Avenue of the Giants drive, 80s mostly during day. Lovely stay at a KOA.  We arrived September 9 in Sacramento to see Danielle, Jenn’s friend from high school. It’s always fun trying to exit right off of a freeway with 30 cars protesting something and waving foreign flags entering the freeway. But Ken managed well. Then our campground email directions, which they said to use and not Google, were awful and we ended up on 2 narrow bridges, little city streets and the navigational lady who wanted us to make a VERY sharp right. That wasn’t happening. I told Ken if I were driving I’d stop in the middle of the road and abandon the massive rig. But Ken was OK and kept driving.  Today we did a lovely 16 mile plus bike ride on the American River Trail with Danielle our tour guide and it was breezy, a bit shaded, and lovely! Saw turkeys, squirrels, and lots of cyclists and runners. Then we enjoyed great live mu

September 3 - Bandon by the Sea

Ken and Rose Face Rock Jenn and Rose on bike ride Our 8 night stay at Bandon by the Sea RV Park in Bandon, OR is coming to an end. It is a quiet campground with quite a few long term residents and virtually no children. It’s also very quiet so we fit right in with Ken working on projects with his power tools. 🤣 This one, like many others, has a campfire ban due to the very dry conditions in Oregon. Thankfully the air quality is good and isn’t smoky from the wildfires. The location is great - we can bike or take short drives to nearby beaches. No one is swimming in them - I think because the water is too cold and some have large rocks. Rose has enjoyed dancing on the beach and exploring.  We (I) did lots of laundry this week. Nothing exciting but in case you think it’s all vacay! The facilities at the campground were nice and close to our site. I also defrosted our small freezer and refrigerator. This is common in campers since they can run on propane or electricity. No auto defrosting
